MCG mind for metal produces floors for new Alstom trains

Another great project won by the MCG transportation business unit: MCG mind for metal is producing 142 floors for Alstom’s new regional trains that go into circulation in the outskirts of Paris and other parts of northern France in 2021. A business evaluated over one million euros.

Another major project conquered by…

…the MCG transportation business unit: MCG mind for metal has guaranteed the development and production of 142 floors for Alstom’s new regional trains that go into circulation on the outskirts of Paris and other parts of northern France in 2021. A business that exceeds the mark of one million euros.

Fully developed…

…by the MCG transportation R&D team, the equipment is an unheated floor system that will be installed in the new regional trains that Alstom is producing in partnership with Bombardier for SNCF, the largest French…

…railway operator and one of the largest in Europe. Based on a composite material that combines cork and aluminum, this floor solution integrates anti-vibration protection elements, all the interfaces necessary for the installation in the vehicle and also the ramps for access of users with reduced mobility.

According to Pedro Brilha, this…

…floor system “is supplied in fully plug-and-play conditions, reducing installation time and assembly efficiency”. The MCG transportation’s Commercial Director also points out that this is a business of great importance in the operation of this business unit, since “it has a great weight and the ability to leverage MCG as a…

…solution-provider in the competitive railway interior industry with both Alstom and other OEMs”.

As already mentioned above, the composite material that serves as a basis for this type of floor system includes in its composition a raw material that is widely exported to the whole world from Portugal: cork. In this case,…

…cork is used in the floor cores, adding value to the equipment in terms of functionality and environmental issues.

“The technologies we use to design these floors are already fully consolidated in MCG mind for metal; however, what we consider a break-through in this project is the fact that we have demonstrated,…

…once again, the ability to validate with Alstom – and, consequently, with an organization like SNCF, client of the company mentioned above – the use of a product as Portuguese as cork “, says Pedro Brilha, the commercial responsible for the project.

This component is designated as the Exterior Guide to an air suspension system

…of the Porsche Taycan and can be identified in the image below. MCG does not supply Porsche directly, since the part in question is assembled on the suspension system before integrating the vehicle, but it is of great importance for the company to be part of a project of this magnitude…

…and in the context of a car as disruptive as the new Mission E.

“Ambition” is what the new Porsche Taycan does not miss, both in performance and in the propulsion system, a car based exclusively on “clean” energy. A pair of permanently synchronized magnetic motors generate power…

…above 600 hp and make it possible to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.5 seconds. Porsche’s estimated range of autonomy for the new Taycan is close to 500 km, and the German manufacturer also guarantees that 15 minutes of electrical charge is sufficient to accumulate 80% of the…
