Technologies developed by MCG R&D integrate new heated floors for buses
A year ago, MCG’s facilities in Carregado received the official presentation of one of the most demanding projects developed by the company’s R&D team: the CoMMUTe project. In a consortium composed of three other companies – Amorim Cork Composites, ITeCons, and Critical Materials –, the main goal, which has since been successfully achieved, was to develop a prototype of a modular and multifunctional heated floor for installation in intercity and regional trains interiors.
And MCG transportation is now producing a bus floor equipped with a removable heating system consisting of an application of the CoMMUTe system: the heated floor for the buses Levante III, from CaetanoBus, one of the first electric radiant floor systems to be produced in series for this type of vehicles.
The whole concept of this bus floor remains unchanged, but with all the advantages inherent to the CoMMUTe project, “in particular the part where the films are removable without the need to remove the structural element from the floor of the bus – only the top layer “, explains Pedro Brilha, Commercial Director of MCG transportation.
