Production of floor systems for Aptis electric buses

The optimization of the raw materials used, the functionality at the time of installation in the final equipment and the ability to produce, handle and deliver large components. These are the main points to be considered by the industry of development and production of components for new generation buses.

MCG transportation, being one of the worldwide manufacturers that best combines development engineering skills with adequate production conditions, is prepared to produce integral floors over eight meters in length.

The challenge

Due to its own characteristics, the entire structure of the Alstom Aptis bus rests on a base with more than eight meters in length. This globally recognized train manufacturer, therefore, needed to find a supplier capable of developing an unheated floor system that combines large dimensions as a single piece with a light, robust composition and based on new generation composite materials.

MCG know-how and solutions

In collaboration with the customer

Obeying customer requirements is essential for the development and production of a floor with these characteristics. To this end, all processes take place in an environment of constant collaboration between the specialized teams at MCG transportation and Alstom, these teams being dedicated exclusively to the customer.

Structural Bonding

The advanced floor system developed by MCG for this project shows the high skills of the MCG transportation business unit in structural bonding processes in metallic construction, with special emphasis on the assembly of panels in composite materials.

Large single components

The floor solution for Alstom Aptis is a single component with dimensions of 8.5 x 2.3 meters. The MCG transportation production units are prepared to handle structures of these dimensions and are distinguished worldwide by their specialization in very large panels.

Temperature controlled bonding chambers

The MCG transportation bonding chambers operate with restricted access and with controlled humidity and temperature conditions. Likewise, these conditions are also guaranteed in areas destined for the storage of raw materials and final products.

Self-supporting activity

MCG transportation and its entire Supply Shain department are perfectly qualified to work completely autonomously.
