Floor for Alstom Aptis electric bus

The components of the new generation buses are characterized by the optimization of the raw materials used and by the functionality they present at the time of installation in the final product. In the case of floors, the large dimensions of the component are also an aspect to be taken into account.

MCG transportation is one of the worldwide manufacturers that combines development engineering skills with the conditions to produce whole floors over eight meters in length.

The challenge

Due to its own characteristics, the entire structure of the new Alstom Aptis bus rests on a base over eight meters long. This globally recognized train manufacturer needed to find a supplier capable of developing an unheated floor system for tis new electric bus area. That system should combine large dimensions as a single piece with a light, robust composition and based on composite materials.

The advanced floor system developed by MCG for this project shows the high skills of the MCG transportation business unit in structural bonding processes integrated into metallic construction, with special emphasis on the assembly of panels in the latest generation of composite materials, giving the final set high mechanical strength.

Unique large pieces

The floor solution for Alstom Aptis is a component with a length of more than eight meters. The MCG transportation production units are prepared to handle structures of these dimensions and are distinguished worldwide by their specialization in very large panels.
