Viria a formar-se em &#8220;Econ\u00f3micas e Financeiras&#8221;. Um dos segredos do neg\u00f3cio era discutir sempre os pr\u00f3ximos passos em fam\u00edlia.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pela mesma altura, a empresa Braz &amp; Irm\u00e3o, no Carregado, tinha comprado um cami\u00e3o da marca Vulcan. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ap\u00f3s um acidente, este ve\u00edculo necessitou de uma nova cabina, trabalho que foi entregue a Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O respons\u00e1vel pelo stand que efetuou a venda do mesmo cami\u00e3o reparou no bom trabalho realizado nesta repara\u00e7\u00e3o e decidiu entregar \u00e0 MCG os trabalhos de prepara\u00e7\u00e3o das cabinas de todos os cami\u00f5es da mesma marca que chegavam de Inglaterra. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi o in\u00edcio da atividade de prepara\u00e7\u00e3o de cabines, que mais tarde acolheu tamb\u00e9m as marcas Adkison, Bedford, Leiland e AEG.<\/span><\/p><h4><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>Expandir o neg\u00f3cio<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O crescente volume de trabalho motivou a mudan\u00e7a para umas novas instala\u00e7\u00f5es, com base num arrendamento nunca confirmado atrav\u00e9s de documentos e que mais tarde veio a dar problemas: o propriet\u00e1rio, ao ver o neg\u00f3cio de Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a crescer, quis ser seu s\u00f3cio. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O fundador da MCG recusou e, volvidos 15 meses de a\u00e7\u00e3o em tribunal, viu-se assim obrigado a abandonar o espa\u00e7o onde tinha instalada a empresa.<\/span><\/p><h4><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>Um apoio fundamental<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nesse momento e j\u00e1 com 80 trabalhadores, Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a tinha j\u00e1 adquirido a Jos\u00e9 Lacerda Pinto Barreiros um terreno no Carregado. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas ainda n\u00e3o tinha as instala\u00e7\u00f5es prontas e as pessoas trabalhavam em p\u00e9ssimas condi\u00e7\u00f5es, \u00e0 chuva e ao sol, debaixo de uns encerados sobre estruturas feitas de varolas de eucalipto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi ent\u00e3o que v\u00e1rias pessoas que tinham estima por Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a lhe deram apoio no neg\u00f3cio. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A C\u00e2mara Municipal de Alenquer ficou entusiasmada com o projeto da nova f\u00e1brica, ajudando na montagem da cabine el\u00e9trica e no transporte de materiais para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p><h4><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>Reputa\u00e7\u00e3o Internacional<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi assim que as novas instala\u00e7\u00f5es da MCG foram crescendo em v\u00e1rias fases. Em 1961 j\u00e1 contava com 120 oper\u00e1rios e come\u00e7ava-se a ouvir falar nas linhas de montagem desta empresa portuguesa.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi ent\u00e3o que a firma Garrido &amp; Filho entregou a Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a o fabrico de 20 cabines para cami\u00f5es da marca Scania. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mais tarde, na apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o oficial desses ve\u00edculos, foram os pr\u00f3prios respons\u00e1veis da marca sueca que comunicaram a decis\u00e3o de adjudicar ao fundador da MCG o fabrico de mais 250 unidades. Confirmava-se assim a entrada no mundo da ind\u00fastria autom\u00f3vel internacional.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div style=\"color: #999999;\">&#8211;<br \/><\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>A PRIMEIRA PRENSA HIDR\u00c1ULICA DA MCG<\/strong><\/span><\/h4><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A encomenda de 250 cabines para cami\u00f5es por parte dos suecos da Scania obrigava a um forte investimento, especialmente porque o fundador da MCG desejava adquirir uma prensa hidr\u00e1ulica que \u201calavancasse\u201d a produ\u00e7\u00e3o, que na altura era artesanal.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas o pre\u00e7o desta m\u00e1quina era ainda demasiado elevado, pelo que teve de surgir outra solu\u00e7\u00e3o, que passou pela constru\u00e7\u00e3o de uma prensa baseada numa bomba hidr\u00e1ulica retirada de um lagar de azeite. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Esta estrutura feita naquele tempo pelos pr\u00f3prios trabalhadores da MCG chegou mesmo a estampar pe\u00e7as para dezenas de cabines.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi ent\u00e3o que o engenheiro Poleri de Campos, funcion\u00e1rio da firma Metal\u00fargica de Benfica, garantiu a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de uma prensa hidr\u00e1ulica de 300 toneladas para a MCG. E os horizontes da empresa abriram-se ainda mais\u2026<\/span><\/p><h5><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>Ford e GM em Portugal<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Um agente da Ford na regi\u00e3o alertou Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o da Gra\u00e7a de que a marca norte-americana pretendia adquirir um terreno em Portugal para implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de uma linha de montagem. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O protagonista desta hist\u00f3ria disponibilizou-se desde logo a ajudar, tendo nessa altura chegado ao contacto presencial com os principais respons\u00e1veis da Ford no nosso pa\u00eds, apresentando-lhes uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o de 80.000 m2 na zona da Azambuja, perto do Carregado. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a estava a tentar vender um terreno que n\u00e3o era seu! Ap\u00f3s bastante insist\u00eancia, convenceu o engenheiro Jos\u00e9 Rodrigues Vaz Monteiro, propriet\u00e1rio do terreno, a efetivar o neg\u00f3cio.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mas esta parte da hist\u00f3ria n\u00e3o fica por aqui. Uma semana mais tarde, o fundador da MCG deslocou-se aos escrit\u00f3rios de Lisboa da General Motors (GM) e fez uma proposta semelhante, pois a GM preparava-se para comprar um terreno em Set\u00fabal para o mesmo efeito.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Avan\u00e7ou-se para uma visita ao terreno, onde um respons\u00e1vel norte-americano da marca mandou instalar uma mesa com whisky e aperitivos para uma reuni\u00e3o. o neg\u00f3cio era simples: a GM queria adquirir 250.000 m2, mas o pre\u00e7o teria de ser um escudo por metro mais barato do que o pre\u00e7o do neg\u00f3cio da Ford. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">O desconto foi feito e foi assim que tanto a Ford como a GM instalaram as suas novas f\u00e1bricas em Portugal.<\/span><\/p><h5><span style=\"color: #1c94d0;\"><strong>Evolu\u00e7\u00e3o industrial\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/h5><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sob este cen\u00e1rio, o inevit\u00e1vel aconteceu. As f\u00e1bricas instaladas na Azambuja fizeram propostas de trabalho \u00e0 MCG, por saberem que esta empresa j\u00e1 contava com uma prensa de 300 toneladas e uma mesa de igual capacidade. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Neg\u00f3cios que \u201croubaram\u201d muitas noites de sono a Manuel da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Gra\u00e7a, em busca de solu\u00e7\u00f5es que viabilizassem os investimentos necess\u00e1rios.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Ford adjudicou \u00e0 MCG o fabrico dos tejadilhos e das portas para as carrinhas Transit, componentes que tamb\u00e9m a GM necessitava para montar em ve\u00edculos Bedford do mesmo g\u00e9nero. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foi assim que a empresa avan\u00e7ou para a aquisi\u00e7\u00e3o de uma prensa hidr\u00e1ulica de 190 toneladas. Mas estes neg\u00f3cios traziam um outro grande desafio: a necessidade de se iniciar a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de moldes destinados aos processos de estampagem de pe\u00e7as autom\u00f3vel, algo que ainda hoje acontece na MCG&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-528c0fc e-flex e-con-boxed espa\u00e7os de trabalho na f\u00e1brica da MCG da
