MCG has as main responsibility in this project the development of the structural solution – a multilayer sandwich panel – as well as the respective mechanical and hydrothermal design. The company’s other contribution also includes the development of the continuous automatic stainless welding process (internally sealed welding).
The solution to achieve
The NewGenShell – New Generation of High Performance Shells for Climatic Chambers project aims at the research, design, development, prototyping, and validation of a new climate box concept (with isothermal enclosures) with integrated air conditioning modules.
The modular system to be developed will give rise to large test chambers – where a complete car can fit, for example –, capable of generating extreme temperature conditions (-75ºC to 180ºC), relative humidity (10% to 98%) and variable ventilation.
The other two entities present in the consortium are Aralab, a manufacturer of climatic and laboratory equipment for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and industrial markets; and ITeCons, a NE entity of SI&I dedicated to the design, development, and validation of new products and technological systems.
