Project problem/motivation
Reducing the total costs of systems that are an integral part of transport vehicles such as trains is an emerging challenge, even more so when it is possible to reduce manufacturing lead-times, add technological elements and functions and optimize the use of raw materials. It is due to this that the need arises to develop a floor with the characteristics that the CoMMUTe Project brings together.
Main mission
The coMMUTe project aims to develop a prototype of a modular and multi-functional heated floor for installation inside intercity and regional trains.
Additional information
Within the scope of MCG’s R&D activity, the CoMMUTe project started in October 2015 and was presented by MCG transportation at the InnoTrans fair in September 2016, and also during the company’s presence at the Railway Interiors 2017 event in October.
More recently, in mid-March 2018, the closure of the CoMMUTe project took place at the premises of MCG, in Carregado, with the presence of the other companies that make up the consortium led by MCG: Amorim Cork Composites, ITeCons, and Critical Materials. The highlights of the event were the presentation of the final results of the initiative and also the demonstration prototype on a visit to the factory.
