SHIP Project

The SHIP – Solar Heat for Industrial Processes project, with MCG as a leading company and a consortium also formed by the University of Évora, INEGI, and the companies OnControl and KEMET Electronics Portugal, holds as its main objective the demonstration of a holistic system of direct integration technologies that work with solar thermal technology in medium temperature industrial processes.

In parallel, it is intended to test and validate this technology, guaranteeing its approach to the market. The system was designed, created, and established as an innovative solution, resulting from previous R&D activities of the various consortium partners.

Project problem/motivation

The aim of this project is to highlight the technical and economic advantages of the solution that is not yet fully validated. Its implementation should result in greater energy efficiency in the industrial units where it will be installed, resulting in reduced energy bills and, therefore, embracing solar thermal technologies and other eco-efficient solutions in general, still very dependent on the quantification of this type of energy.

The solution to achieve

Reinforce research, technological development, and innovation. The demonstration of a holistic system of direct integration of technologies that work with solar thermal technology in medium temperature industrial processes.

Consortium composition

The SHIP – Solar Heat for Industrial Processes project has MCG as the leader of a consortium also formed by the University of Évora, INEGI, and the companies OnControl and KEMET Electronics Portugal.
