ULTRAFORMING

The ULTRAFORMING project aims to investigate and develop a new methodology to design tools capable of producing parts in UHHS steels, as well as acquiring and structuring technical-scientific know-how in terms of elastoplastic behavior.

Therefore, this project’s main objective is to develop new models constituting the elastoplastic behavior of UHSS materials, as well as new simulation models applicable to the design of UHSS tools, compiling the results obtained in a Manual of Good Practices for tool design and stamped parts in UHSS steel.

Project problem/motivation

This project’s main objective is to develop new models constituting the elastoplastic behavior of UHSS materials, as well as new simulation models applicable to the design of UHSS tools, compiling the results obtained in a Manual of Good Practices for tool design and stamped parts in UHSS steel.

The solution to achieve

The ULTRAFORMING project aims to investigate and develop a new methodology to design tools capable of producing parts in UHHS steels, as well as acquiring and structuring technical-scientific know-how in terms of elastoplastic behavior.

To pursue the ambitious R&D objectives, an activity plan was defined, structured in 8 activities, to be carried out over 24 months, ensuring an effective promotion and disclosure of the company’s new skills in the production of tools and parts in the new generation of UHSS steels, and in particular with its target customers.

The expected results are critical to MCG’s claim as a reference supplier of metal parts for the automotive industry since it will be able to ensure the integral development of UHSS steel parts or components or to intervene proactively in its design.
