CoMMUTE – Multifunction Modular Train Floor project is an initiative of the consortium MCG mind for metal, Amorim Cork Composites, ITeCons, and Critical Materials, supported by COMPETE 2020 – Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização.

The main objective was to develop a prototype of a modular and multifunctional floating floor for the interior of intercity and regional railway transport, where passenger comfort is most important due to the duration of the average trip. This new floor will incorporate adaptive radiant heating among other features, and the technology developed opens new grounds for additional functions to be added.

As part of the MCG Transportation business, the CoMMUTe project started in October 2015 and was presented by MCG at InnoTrans in September 2016 and more recently during the company’s presence at the Railway Interiors 2017, in October.

The closing session of CoMMUTe project took place at MCG mind for metal facilities, in Carregado, in march 2018, with the presence of the three companies that integrate the consortium: Amorim Cork Composites, ITeCons and Critical Materials. The highlights of the event were the presentations of the project results and the showcase of the project prototype.
