This can truly be described as a story of dedication to MCG. Speaking of “a very promising future for MCG, not only because of its past, but also because of the future it shows it can achieve”, Luís Pereira, Purchasing Technician, shares aspects of his daily routine and points out what most attracts him in his role – contact with people.
“It is important to make the most of the values that MCG conveys to its employees.”
Accepting new challenges
“The biggest challenge I faced at MCG was clearly when I was offered the opportunity to move into the Purchasing Department. I previously worked in the warehouse as a logistics operator, and the challenge was to take on the role of buyer, which is the position I hold today.”
Learning to evolve
“Every day I learn something new at MCG, whether from suppliers, colleagues, or interns. I also learn a great deal from those who come to intern at MCG. Every day I am learning, and it is possible to improve every day.
If we want to, if we have the willpower, it is possible. We just need to look at the people around us to realise that improvement is possible, and one of the key factors for that is communication.”
Key projects
“The projects I find most interesting? The most recent one – the ZF project – a fantastic initiative that gave a strong boost to the company, namely through the production of suspension arms for the automotive sector.
We also have several important projects within MCG Industry, particularly the Astech project – focused on the production of waste collection containers – which gave great momentum to this business area when MCG was establishing it.
It is also very positive to see that the projects within MCG Transportation are giving significant strength to the company, as well as the new projects being developed at MCG Evolab, MCG’s innovation centre.”
Safety First
“MCG is a company that invests in people and provides opportunities. Safety has been one of MCG’s key priorities in recent years, and I believe this is extremely important. I truly think MCG should serve as an example to other companies in this regard.”
AI and technology supporting production
“I feel that technology gives us the tools to improve our performance in our roles. Naturally, every human being has some resistance to change, and it is normal for people to see new technologies as a threat to their jobs.
I share those concerns as well, but I try to focus on the positive side and make the best possible use of these technologies and of artificial intelligence.”
Strong relationships
“At MCG, one of the greatest strengths I have observed over the years is clearly the human relationships and the communication we have with one another, as well as the team spirit.
I can give the example of my department – we get along very well, and this is a fundamental factor in coming to work motivated every day.”
Building the future
“I see a very promising future for MCG, not only because of its past, but also because of the future it shows it can build. I encourage everyone to truly embrace the values this company passes on to its employees – experience, know‑how – because anyone who goes through MCG leaves far more enriched.
MCG is a second home to me; it is a family. It has been a life journey, with more than half of my life spent at MCG, so I can truly say that MCG means a great deal to me.”
