With determination, resilience, and a constant drive to grow, Washington Jericó has been building his path at MCG for the past two and a half years, working at the Ponte de Sor unit since its very beginning. He is a Production Supervisor at MCG Transportation in Ponte de Sor.
Washington shares the journey he’s taken – shaped by challenges, learning experiences, and a strong team spirit. And he feels truly fulfilled to be leading a team that embraces innovation and contributes every day to the company’s success.
Taking on New Challenges
“Everything was new. A new factory, a new team, new processes, new projects, and so on.
We had to deal with all of that while also being physically distant from MCG’s main structure. Of course, we’re in the same country, but we’re still an hour and a half away. So, whenever we need something, it’s not always immediate. That, in itself, has been a learning experience, and definitely the biggest challenge of my career so far“.
Learning to evolve
“I feel that MCG is a well of opportunities. You just have to be willing to take them.
The company makes process-related knowledge available to you, and you can learn directly from your leaders or from more experienced colleagues. In our case, many of them are in Carregado, and they taught us much of what we know today.
If you want to go further, there are also ways to specialize“.
MCG at Ponte de Sor
“The importance of MCG Transportation in Ponte de Sor is directly linked to the increase in the volume of products we’re able to deliver to the market. Currently, we represent roughly 50% of Metal 5’s revenue. If we weren’t here, those projects wouldn’t be carried out, and we wouldn’t be able to handle those volumes.
So, MCG Ponte de Sor is kind of like an incubator for MCG as a whole. Here, we encounter new projects, and we have a multifunctional team that’s very open to innovation. For example, we once had a project involving an elevator that moved both vertically and horizontally, something we had never seen before.
Soon, we’re expected to start producing not only floors for trains and buses but also ceilings for trains. That’s something entirely new, and our team here is very receptive and open to that challenge“.

Good relationships
“I try, as much as possible, to foster a culture of sharing within the team. I encourage everyone to understand the interdependence between different areas, for example, what the bonding area provides to the cleaning area, what can be done to deliver a higher quality panel, and so on.
This mindset is being reinforced constantly so that everyone understands that our success, whether at MCG Ponte de Sor or MCG Carregado, depends on teamwork. And this scenario applies equally to Carregado.
So far, every time I’ve needed support, for myself or for my team, I’ve always received a positive and helpful response from MCG Carregado“.
Safety First
“I’ve noticed that it’s not common to see a company prioritize safety the way MCG does. However, as a person, I believe that this should be the minimum requirement for any company that wants to be globally competitive.
MCG should continue to take advantage of its strong safety culture and set an example for others. In fact, all companies should be required to do the same“.

New Generations
“Dedicate yourself fully, wear the shirt, and give your best every day. Opportunities will come,it might take time, but they will appear. Always keep in mind where you want to go and what you want to achieve in your career. Set a path to get there and work for it. Ask for help from those around you, whether it’s your team or your direct leaders, and then work towards that goal.
I believe MCG has open doors and opportunities for everyone”.
