Certification under the ISO 45001:2019 standard was an objective that MCG sought to achieve in order to consolidate all the investments and practices that the company has implemented in terms of safety in the workplace and occupational health.
This goal has been achieved thanks to the international ISO 45001:2019 certification standard, which covers the activity and production units of all of MCG’s business divisions – MCG Automotive, MCG Industry, and MCG Transportation – including the recent factory established in Ponte de Sôr.
The certification process for MCG’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System under this standard was completed at the end of 2022, with zero non-conformities and nine opportunities for improvement. The ISO 45001:2019 standard is an instrument that certifies systems for managing risks and opportunities related to safety and health in the workplace, allowing for the establishment of continuous improvement objectives.
The beginning of this certification process dates back to 2018, with the implementation of the “Safety First” project, in which the company strongly invested in safety equipment and training directed to all its Employees.
The training was a strategic step in this project, increasing people’s awareness regarding safety-related issues. This awareness was the key element for the safety and occupational health culture that exists today at MCG and is leveraged by the entire company’s structure.
Since 2018, other procedures, projects, and initiatives have been implemented throughout the value chain of MCG’s business areas, not only with the objective of ensuring certification of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System but also to ensure that safety is always the top priority in all operations.
