She has been with MCG for almost two years and quickly came to understand the importance of the Human Resources Department in a company like this.
Ana Marques, HR Technician, gives us a glimpse into her work and talks about how MCG’s activity can be “impressive” to those looking in from the outside. In a good way, of course.
The importance of people
Human Resources plays a fundamental role at MCG, as this is often the department that communicates with people for the first time.
We are the point of reference these people have throughout their professional journey at MCG. It’s also our responsibility, as Human Resources, to convey that sense of security and make people feel safe.

In my day-to-day work, I focus a lot on contract management, and more recently also on skills management and recruitment, especially technical recruitment. I also pay close attention to intern recruitment, which is something the company values highly.
Strong relationships
MCG’s team spirit was something that caught my attention from the very beginning, because despite the size of the company and the number of people who work here, everyone relates to one another very closely.
I see that within my own team as well: we trust each other a lot, it’s a very healthy environment.
Learning to evolve
If I look at the person I was when I joined MCG and the person I am today, I notice an enormous evolution.
Not only from a technical standpoint, but also in terms of my confidence, my autonomy, and the way I approach challenges day to day. These are proof that my growth has been very positive.
Taking on new challenges
My biggest challenge at MCG was precisely building that confidence in my work, day by day.
When you join, you have some fear of making mistakes, but that was also a message I was given right from the start: we are not afraid to make mistakes, because making mistakes is one of the ways we grow.

When I had the opportunity to stay at MCG [after a nine-month internship], that’s when I truly felt that my work and my growth were being recognised.
Safety First
The MCG value I identify with the most is, without question, safety.
Safety is something that is genuinely present in the daily life of every employee, regardless of their role, and there is a real commitment to it.
The company may have several priorities, but none will ever be as great as preserving the safety and wellbeing of its employees.
Constant support
The other value I’d also highlight is the mutual support that exists within the company.
We can be very willing to learn, but we only truly grow if there are people willing to share their knowledge, to support us, to help us grow.

Daily motivation
What motivates me above all is enjoying what I do, liking my work, feeling that I can learn every day and that I’m useful in what I do.
And also working with people I like. I’m lucky enough to combine both: doing something I enjoy and working with people who are wonderful, who I admire. I admire them and the work they do.
A family-run company
When I talk about MCG, I speak with pride, especially because when I joined, I didn’t truly grasp the size of the company or the impact it has on the region.

What impresses me most about MCG is precisely what it represents for so many people. There are people who have worked at MCG for over forty years, there are families connected to MCG, and that says a lot about the trust and the bonds that have been built over time.
I find it admirable to see a family-run company like MCG reach this level of success, with this international reach, while still maintaining closeness to the community and this sense of social responsibility.
New generations
Some advice for anyone who wants to come work at MCG: search for the company online and see what we do, what we value, how we work.
And above all, come with a collaborative attitude and a willingness to learn.
